Durable, heat-tolerant and strong,
basalt roving delivers exceptional properties whether used in woven, filled or chopped configurations.
• Good tensile strength
• High E-modulus provides specific tenacity exceeding steel fibers by many times

CONTINUOUS-FILAMENT FIBERS

• Very high temperature tolerance–maintains integrity at sustained temperatures up to 1450°C/2642°F

• Can be used in with stress in continuous operation up to 550°C and for a short duration and at a very low stress at the temperature 700°C

• Low elongation under load
• No carcinogenic risks
• Easily manufactured in various tex values from 68 to 4600
• Will not split longitudinally
• Inert, corrosion-resistant and non-toxic
• Very high resistance to chemicals, alkaline, acid and solvents
• Immune to nuclear radiation, UV light and biologic contamination
• Good elasticity and fatigue resistance
• Low friction coefficient
Ideal for high-performance applications:
• Superior performance as an automotive muffler filler, delivering intense heat and sound absorption
• Continuous strand reinforcement for composites to improve integral strength and provide high temperature tolerance
• Specialty woven fabrics for fire protection and containment
• High-pressure/high-temperature pipeline and vessel reinforcement
• Can be chopped into various strand lengths for remanufacture into value-added products
• Immunity to radiation makes it ideal for insulation applications in nuclear power generation plants and x-ray apparatus
